Marleen Julien is the founder and CEO of Creole Solutions, a Chicago-based language services company built on the belief that Haitian Creole is both a cultural asset and a source of economic opportunity.
Born in Nan Mapou, near Cap-Haïtien, she spent over a decade at the Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago while building her freelance translation practice. After earning a master’s degree in International Development from Sciences Po Paris, she launched her own company, Creole Solutions, in 2015.
Today, the company collaborates with more than 30 linguists, serves clients in healthcare, education, government, legal services, and technology, and trains Haitian language professionals. It holds WBENC, WOSB, NMSDC, NYC M/WBE, and City of Chicago M/WBE certifications.
Marleen completed Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (2023) and the NMSDC Capital Readiness Program (2025). She also wrote Nan Jaden Amoni, a collection of 21 Haitian Creole stories promoting literacy and cultural heritage.
